With having a musical family, I began playing music at the age of 5 (piano and recorder), then found the clarinet at the age of 9. Being part of the Richmond School Wind Band and Northallerton Music Centre I progressed to the Eb Soprano Clarinet. When I left school I moved to the West Coast of Scotland and took a break from music, to work and raise my children. Started playing the Clarinet again in 2000 and joined the Tarbert Camerata (chamber group in Argyll). Moved back to the North East at the end of 2009 and have quickly become a member of the North East Concert Band, Newcastle Concert Band (playing the Eb Clainet mainly) and the Cobwebb Orchestra (playing the Bb and A Clarinets). Like most clarinetists, I also play the saxophone, but it's for fun only. Being part of the North East Concert Band is like having a large extended family - all extremely friendly, welcoming and fun to be with. No doubt there will be many years of fun to follow.
